Marty Feldman as Igor (from Young Frankenstein)
One of the funniest movies of the 1970’s was Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. This was based on two things: a great script and great casting. Marty Feldman, the English comedic actor, was the perfect choice to play Igor (pronounced “eye-gore”) the bumbling minion to Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced “fronk-n-steen”). This drawing is based on the scene where the camera pans across several brain specimens in jars—finally landing on Igor—who immediately breaks into the song “I Ain’t Got Nobody”. With his wide-ranging eyes, Feldman played up his physical attributes to create a memorable portrayal. I still love this movie and would recommend it to anyone wishing to see classic comedy done right.
